Introducing SharkServers Rewards!
We are happy to announce that starting today all our clients will earn reward points as a ‘Thank you’ from SharkServers for being with us. The earned points can then be exchanged for credit which can, in turn, be used to order new web hosting services or buy that domain name that you always wanted.
Points are awarded for almost everything – paying your invoices (invoices paid before due date give your more points), ordering new services and more. Points can also be taken away for some things. The minimum points you can exchange for credit is 10, which is $1 when exchanged.

If you’ve decided that a dedicated server makes the most sense for you or your company, the next decision you have to make is just as important. Choosing the right dedicated server will be the difference between this being a good decision and one that is a complete waste of money.
The first thing you have to consider are your own resources. Specifically, do you have the technical knowledge necessary to handle the maintenance required for system administration? If you don’t, does someone in your company (most likely in the IT department)?
If the answer is “no”, don’t worry. It just means you need to pay for management services from the hosting company. Literally tell them that you have no experience with handling administrative duties and they’ll know what you need.

It’s been a while since anything was posted on our blog, so I think it’s time to tell you a bit more about things going on at SharkServers.
The most important event for us this year was the datacenter migration from Coventry, UK to our own facility in Reading, UK that has just opened. The move was completed on June 14, and it went better than we expected. You see, with any migrations of such scale, you expect that something will go wrong. Luckily, this was not the case, and while we were prepared for some problems, everything was in order. That said, SharkServers now has a new place to call home – B5 Data Centers, owned and operated by B5 Ltd – SharkServers parent company.

Of the numerous hosting features and extras available from just about every hosting provider out there, the dedicated IP may just be the one that gives Web publishers the most pause. Is it necessary? Does it have any benefit? Do I really need one at all?
The debate rages on. Ultimately, whether you spring for a dedicated IP address or not is your decision, but knowing a few facts, and then throwing in a bit of opinion, may help you make an educated decision. Let’s start with the basics.

Happy new year, all! 2014 was a pretty fantastic year for us at SharkServers – we opened our doors up, and we’re pretty pleased with the results. We hope you are too! The New Year is a time when lots of people start making resolutions: exercise more, eat healthier, volunteer more, quit smoking – lots of options! We’ve got our resolutions set, but what about yours?
Perhaps we’re a bit biased, but we definitely recommend blogging more as a resolution – and what better way to blog than with us? The Basic plan ends up being only $24.99 for a year, and that includes your own domain name, too! And with that, you get fantastic hosting and support, ready to help in any way we can! Fork out some cash, and maybe it’ll help you keep a “blog more” resolution going!
Go take a look at our hosting packages, grab one that catches your eye! We promise you won’t be disappointed!
… and we got a promotion to celebrate that. Effective now, use promotion code “BLACKFRIDAY” to get 55% off any shared hosting or VPS (Windows or Linux) plan for your next 6 invoices. You read it right – invoices, and not months.
How does that work?
If you pay monthly, you will get 55% off each invoice for the next 6 months (6 invoices). Quarterly billing will get you 18 months at 55% off (6 invoices over 18 months). Semi annual – 3 years with the discount, and annual terms – 6 years at 55% off.
With so huge discounts, you can’t go wrong! Sign up now and enjoy one of the best hosting services around.
Linux VPS (OpenVZ)
P.S. The promotion is for new signups only. Existing orders do not qualify.
October will bring many changes to how SharkServers operate. Some will be more noticeable than others, but they’re all aimed at improving the quality of our services.
First of all, we have decided to change the amount of RAM allocated to some of our Cloud range virtual servers. This is due to the fact that the starter plans do not provide enough RAM for the Windows operating system to function at optimum speed.
The new RAM allocation will change for the following Windows VPS:
Cloud #1: 1 GB RAM => 2 GB RAM
Cloud #2: 2 GB RAM => 3 GB RAM
Due to the added RAM, there will also be a slight increase in the pricing of these plans, which you will be able to view on the Windows VPS page some time in October. Existing customers are not affected by this.
Ability to use Custom ISO with Cloud Virtual Servers
Do you know many VPS providers that allow you to install the operating system of your VPS from your own custom ISO? No? Then I’m letting you know that we’re one of such companies! Got a custom ISO for your OS? Let our support guys know and we’ll install it for you.
Another event to take place in October is the launch of our redesigned website. We currently do not know when it will go live, but look out for it and don’t get confused when you don’t see what you’re used to, as the new look is going to be completely different.
That’s all for October. We’re already planning some good news for November, so stay tuned, and don’t forget to like SharkServers on Facebook and stalk us on Twitter for all the latest news, service updates and promotions.
When trying to decide on a server monitoring solution many things come to mind – Nagios, Zabbix, cacti and many others. While these are great monitoring tools, but for a novice user they can be a pain to get running.
